Disclaimer

Welcome to My Singapore Diary (mysingaporediary.com). i’ve tried to write this page the same way we write everything else here — honestly, in plain language, without the usual wall of legal jargon nobody actually reads. That said, it still needs to cover the real stuff, so please take a few minutes with it before relying on anything you read on this site.

By using mysingaporediary.com, you accept the terms laid out below. If anything here is unclear, reach out — contact details are at the bottom.

1. This Is a Personal Travel Diary, Not an Official Authority

My Singapore Diary is built around first-hand experience — my own trips, my own move to Singapore, my own meals, my own mistakes and discoveries along the way. Everything you read here, from the “My Stories” section to the food guides, reflects personal experience and opinion at the time it was written. It is not an official, professional, or authoritative source on any subject it covers.

This matters most in a few specific areas:

  • Halal certification status: i reference MUIS certification where relevant, but MUIS (Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura) is the only authoritative body for confirming a restaurant’s current halal status. Certifications can lapse, change, or be renewed after i publish. Always verify directly through the MUIS directory before dining somewhere unfamiliar.
  • Visa, immigration, and residency information: Content under Travel Tips is a starting point for planning, not legal or immigration advice. Rules change. Always confirm current requirements with Singapore’s Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) or a licensed immigration professional before making decisions based on anything published here.
  • Cost-of-living, pricing, and financial figures: Prices mentioned anywhere on this site (meals, hotels, transport, rent, etc.) are snapshots from a specific point in time and location. They are not quotes, guarantees, or financial advice, and they will drift with inflation, seasonality, and exchange rates.

None of the content on this site should replace advice from a qualified professional in the relevant field — immigration lawyer, financial advisor, doctor, or religious authority, depending on the topic.

2. Accuracy of Information

the fact-check what i publish and try to keep older posts updated, but a travel blog covering a fast-moving city inevitably falls behind reality sometimes — a restaurant closes, a museum changes its hours, an entry requirement gets revised. i make no warranty, express or implied, that any information on this site is complete, current, or error-free at the moment you read it.

If you’re planning a trip, a move, or a purchase based on something here, please double-check the details (opening hours, entry requirements, prices, certification, transport schedules) directly with the relevant business or official source before you go.

3. Affiliate Disclosure

Some links on My Singapore Diary — particularly in hotel, restaurant, and product recommendations — are affiliate links. If you click through and make a booking or purchase, i may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.

This never changes what we recommend. i only link to places, apps, and services i’d genuinely suggest to a friend visiting Singapore, whether or not there’s a commission attached. Where a post contains affiliate links, that will typically be noted near the relevant section as well.

4. Advertising Disclosure

This site displays advertising served through Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. i don’t control the specific ads shown to any individual visitor, and the presence of an ad on this site is not an endorsement of the advertiser, their product, or their service by My Singapore Diary. You can learn more about how Google uses data in this context, and manage your ad preferences, at Google’s Ads Settings page.

5. External Links

i link out to hotels, restaurants, apps (Halal Navi, Muslim Pro, Meetup, ActiveSG, and similar), official government resources, and other third-party websites throughout this site, purely for the reader’s convenience. i don’t control the content, accuracy, availability, or privacy practices of any external site, and linking to it isn’t an endorsement of everything on it. Once you leave mysingaporediary.com, this Disclaimer — and our Privacy Policy — no longer applies. Please review the relevant policies of any third-party site you visit.

6. No Professional, Medical, or Safety Advice

Nothing on this site constitutes medical, legal, financial, immigration, or religious advice. Travel involves inherent risk — health conditions, safety situations, local laws, and personal circumstances vary from one traveler to the next. Any decision you make based on content from My Singapore Diary is made at your own discretion and risk. Please consult the appropriate licensed professional or official authority for guidance specific to your situation before you travel.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, My Singapore Diary, its author, and contributors are not liable for any loss, damage, or inconvenience — direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential — arising from your use of this site, reliance on its content, or any transaction made with a third party linked from this site. This includes, without limitation, losses related to travel bookings, missed flights, cancelled reservations, outdated pricing, or incorrect halal-certification information that has since changed.

8. Changes to This Disclaimer

i may update this page from time to time as the site, its content, or applicable regulations change. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised Disclaimer.
